Although it sounds basic, surprisingly the most common question we receive is how you can best introduce power steering fluid to your pump. So straight from our experts, here is a sure-fire way you can ensure fluid motion is working correctly:
- Pour power steering fluid into pump reservoir (prior to starting the car). Use real power steering fluid since brake fluid is not a sufficient substitute.
- Start the car with a friend that can pour more power steering fluid while you SLOWLY turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and then all the way to the left. Keep SLOWLY turning the wheel back and forth while your friend adds more steering fluid until reservoir is properly filled.
- Tighten the cap on the reservoir and hit the road.
