This month’s Feature Ride is Warren Geiwitz’s 1966 Mustang Coupe which includes a Unisteer Rack & Pinion along with a number other upgrades

Warren says that he made the decision to go with Unisteer after visting the Unisteer booth at a Carlisle show several years ago. He was told the differences with other rack & pinions.  Warren says “I’m sure glad I went this direction because it made all the difference.”

Warren also made several other the other upgrades in the Mustang:

  • The front suspension is complete Global West with CPP coil overs and 1 1/8” sway bar
  • The rear is equipped with  a 3.55 gear posi and ¾” sway bar and Global West 1 1/4” lowering springs and Del-a-lum bushings
  • The Mustang is powered by a stroked SBF 347 topped with a Fitech Power Adder EFI unit. It has a Tanks Inc EFI tank with in tank 400 LPH pump and 4 wheel disc brakes.
  • The interior is TMI with Sport II seats and console, It has brushed aluminum dash and glove box faces and AutoMeter Phantom white face gauges as well as a Retro Radio with Bluetooth 6 ¼” kick panel and 6 x 9 rear deck lid speakers.
  • The exterior has a 68 style Shelby hood with brake side scoops and Shelby sequential tail lights and Cobra style 17” wheels.

He says “the car is a work in progress. Coming soon is the spoiler trunk lid and corners and a new Borla Crate Muffler exhaust!”

Warren continues, “The Unisteer Rack and Pinion and The Global West suspension make this car handle like a dream! It loves corners and the harder you push it the better it feels. I also had to upgrade to the Sport II seats with seat and back side bolsters because the flat stock seats had me sliding all over the place.

“If I had to say which upgrade was the best one, I’d have to say the Rack & Pinion. The car steered like a school bus before I installed the Unisteer R&P and just felt unsafe at almost any speed.  Of course, I could have lived with just that one upgrade but what fun would that be?”
